The Bi-monthly inter-departmental seminar was held on 09 May at Fazl Ali College Conference Hall with Dr. Limasenla Jamir, Asst. Professor, Department of Sociology as the paper presenter.
Dr. Limasenla Jamir spoke on the topic ‘Local Migrant Workers: The Mokokchung Story.’ In her paper, she talked about rural-urban migration in Nagaland and focused on who are the local migrant workers in Mokokchung. She mentioned that the local migrant workers in Mokokchung are mostly from the seven tribes of eastern Nagaland.
She also highlighted the works the local migrant workers were engaged in which included the construction sector, agricultural sector, leisure and hospitality sector and domestic service sector. Some of the problems faced by the local migrant workers were also highlighted during the presentation.
The seminar was moderated by Lunthula Quinker and the rapporteur was Menuhole Savi, both Asst. Prof. from the Department of Sociology. The concluding remarks were given by Dr. Aotemshi, Member, Seminar Committee, FAC.
